A Preschool Inspires Young Minds
Preschool Stella Maris Gading Serpong recently hosted an entrepreneur event called “Stemapreneur” to foster innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship in young minds. The event, designed for preschoolers, aimed to introduce students to the basics of entrepreneurship, product design, and marketing. This event encourages preschool students to learn to be promising entrepreneurs; they learn to have a great idea and do their best to make it a good product. The moment when the preschool students keep trying, even when things get tough, makes the students become brave young entrepreneurs who are never afraid to try new things.
The products created by the students were diverse and creative, ranging from handmade crafts to edible treats. The young entrepreneurs took great pride in their creations, eagerly showcasing them to their parents, teachers, and peers. Under the guidance of their teachers, students learned to:
- Believe in themselves and their abilities.
- Understand basic things, such as how to promote and sell their products.
- Practice verbal and non-verbal communication with parents and sell their products.
- Develop critical thinking skills to overcome challenges.
The Stemapreneur event taught technical skills and fostered essential character traits like creativity, imagination, and innovation; confidence: building self-assurance through experimentation and risk-taking; and responsibility: taking ownership of their products and actions.
Enthusiastic parents attended the event about their children’s participation. Parents played a vital role in supporting their children’s entrepreneurial endeavors, providing guidance and encouragement throughout the event. The Stemapreneur event sparked a significant increase in the students’ entrepreneurial skills and ignited a palpable enthusiasm among parents. Parents’ excitement and pride were evident from the beginning as they cheered on their little entrepreneurs, beaming with joy and admiration. The preschoolers were divided into small groups based on their class and tasked with designing, creating, and marketing their products. Parents were encouraged to participate, guiding and supporting their little entrepreneurs. It was a huge success, with students and parents displaying immense enthusiasm and participation.
