Joy to the School: Christmas Festivities at Stella Maris Secondary
On January 16, 2025, Secondary Stella Maris School held its Christmas Service and Celebration in the Getsemani Auditorium at Stella Maris School Gading Serpong. The theme for this year was inspired by Luke 2:10: “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid’. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
The event began with a meaningful Christmas Service. Students and teachers joined together to sing joyful Christmas songs, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. The students were full of energy and excitement, lifting their voices in praise to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This was followed by a heartfelt sermon and prayer led by Pastor Pdp. Renny Sutan, who is well-known for her experience and wisdom in guiding school communities. She shared an inspiring message about the true meaning of “Do not be afraid” from Luke 2:10. Students of all religions listened attentively, reflecting on how this message can bring peace and courage into their lives.
After the Christmas Service, the students had the chance to reflect on their efforts in the Christmas Charity program, which took place in December 2024. Watching the impact of their contributions brought smiles to their faces and a sense of fulfillment, reminding everyone about the importance of sharing love and kindness during the holiday season.
The day continued with the highly anticipated Christmas Celebration. Each grade level showcased creative performances, bringing the festive spirit to life. From singing and dancing to entertaining dramas, the students gave their all to make the event lively and memorable. The Getsemani auditorium was filled with laughter, applause, and cheerful faces as the Stella Maris community, including parents and alumni, enjoyed the wonderful performances.
Parents were thrilled to see their children shine on stage. Parents of Revia and Freya shared their thoughts: “This year’s Christmas celebration was really amazing. The students worked so well together. This is the best Christmas celebration I’ve experienced since my children joined Stella Maris.” Alumni also expressed their admiration for the event. Aurel, a Stella Maris graduate from the batch 2023/2024, said, “The performances were really impressive. They were unique and had so much variety this year.”
The Christmas Celebration was more than just an event; it was a moment of unity, joy, and gratitude. It brought together students, teachers, parents, and alumni to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and the message of love, courage, and giving. Events like this highlight the strong bond within the Stella Maris community and remind everyone of the true essence of the holiday season.
With its heartfelt service, inspiring message, and lively celebration, the 2025 Stella Maris Christmas event was truly a memorable experience for all. It left everyone looking forward to the next celebration and carrying the joy and lessons of Christmas into the new year.
