Exploring the IB Journey: A Day of Discovery and Inspiration
Last week, our Grade 10 students took part in a special event designed to introduce them to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This half-day event, known as “IB Day,” was created to help students better understand what the IB is all about and how it prepares them for university and beyond.

The day started with an overview session led by Ms. Nina. She gave a clear introduction to what the IB Programme offers, including the academic challenges, the global mindset it promotes, and how it supports student growth. This session helped set the stage for what was to come.
After the introduction, students were divided into six groups and rotated through four interactive sessions. These sessions were led by IB teachers and covered key areas of the program. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, explore subject choices, and understand what each subject would be like. This hands-on rotation gave them a taste of the learning style and expectations in the IB.
One special highlight of the day was the IB Mentorship session. In this activity, current IB students shared their personal experiences in the program. They gave honest advice about time management, workload, and how they balance academics with their personal lives. This peer-to-peer sharing created a strong connection and helped Grade 10 students see what it’s really like to be an IB student.
After a short break, the group rotations continued, giving every student a chance to interact with different teachers and subjects. Finally, the day ended with a session on IB core subjects, led by Mr. Jonas and a group of Grade 12 students. They discussed important parts of the IB curriculum like the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
Overall, IB Day was a big success. It was a great mix of information, discussion, and inspiration. Students left the event with clearer insights and more confidence about making informed decisions for their future. Events like this show our school’s strong commitment to guiding students through meaningful academic choices.
