Celebrating Christmas:A Day Full of Festive Joy

Some time ago, on 9th January 2026, Stella Maris School Gading Serpong secondary unit held a Christmas Celebration. It was a fantastic experience for me personally, as I enjoyed all parts of the event. It started from a short sermon and candlelight service, to a lively session of performances prepared by each class.
The service began with praise and worship. We sang Holy Night together, and the dim lights created a peaceful moment. It was followed by a sermon delivered by Pastor Tommy Ely Athur Simanjuntak. The message made me realize that as Jesus was born to live in this world, I am also called to let Jesus live in my heart. He also reminded me that Christmas is not just a celebration of Jesus’ but also an invitation to have Him be the center of our lives, every day.
After that, the mood shifted more into one of excitement as performances began. Each class, from 7th to 12th grade, presented unique displays of talents. It ranged from dancing, to singing, to even drama and storytelling. It was amazing to see how creative everyone was and how much effort had been put into preparing for their performances. Watching them made me feel quite proud.
Practicing for my own class’ performance was also special to me. Although rehearsals could be tiring, they were filled with laughter and bonding moments. We managed to put on a successful dance on the day!
Another one of the thrilling experiences was having the opportunity to be one of the four masters of ceremony. Standing on stage as an MC was nervewracking, and it was a different excitement compared to being there as a performer. But nevertheless, as an MC, I was able to play even a small role in making the event run smoothly, so I was sincerely happy.
In the end, I am truly grateful that Stella Maris School Gading Serpong celebrates Christmas so wholeheartedly. It showed me the joy of community and the true meaning of Christmas, which is celebrating Jesus with gratitude.
